The 2025 Season might not have ended in glory for the BONDS Flying Roos but Tom Slingsby’s crew remained in contention through the final stages of the season.
Three-time SailGP Champions, the BONDS Flying Roos have been among the most consistently competitive teams in the league since SailGP’s inception.
Now owned by Australian actor Hugh Jackman and Hollywood A-lister Ryan Reynolds, expectations will be high again in 2026 – not least with the season starting on home waters in Perth.

Crew:
Tom Slingsby (CEO & Driver), Natasha Bryant (Strategist), Nina Curtis (Strategist), Iain Jensen (Wing Trimmer), Kinley Fowler (Flight Controller & Grinder), Sam Newton (Grinder), Jason Waterhouse (Flight Controller & Tactician).
Story of 2025:
The 2025 SailGP Season opened with a victory at Event 2 in Auckland, marking the team’s first and only event win of the season.
Consecutive P3s in Sydney and Los Angeles had Slingsby’s crew nicely positioned. However, in San Francisco, a dramatic wing collapse in Race 7 ruled Australia out of the Final - despite qualifying in P3 across the weekend.
But rule the Aussies out at your peril. Powered by the stardust of Jackman and Reynolds, in the back half of the season they found greater consistency and posted 35 points across six events to qualify for the Grand Final in Abu Dhabi.
At one stage, the Roos were out in front and looked set to secure a fourth SailGP crown, only for Emirates GBR to out-maneuver them on Leg 4 and secure a dramatic victory.
Off-Season Business:
The Roos found themselves part of a league-wide trade circle at the wing trimmer position during the off season.
The BONDS Flying Roos are three-time winners of the SailGP Championship
Chris Draper departed to join Nathan Outteridge at the newly-formed Artemis SailGP Team.
That meant the Australians had a vacancy, which they filled by bringing Iain ‘Goobs’ Jensen home from Emirates GBR. Winning the Rolex SailGP Championship was Jensen’s last act with the Brits before returning to his homeland to sign with the Roos – not a bad way to sign off!
