Foiling Forecast: San Francisco

All the key info about the Californian weather this weekend
Published 03/20/2025
Mild conditions look set to greet attendees at the upcoming Oracle San Francisco Sail Grand Prix.
The weather heading into this weekend is a mix of cloudy skies and sunny intervals – and that is likely to continue on Saturday.
Supporters visiting the SailGP Race Stadium can expect temperatures of 15-16°C / 59-61°F throughout the afternoon, with intermittent cloud cover making way for sunshine in the session’s latter stages.
Then, get set for more consistent sun on Sunday, alongside temperatures of 16°C / 61°F that should be perfect for spectators.
A 0% chance of rain across the weekend should also please anyone making their way to San Francisco Bay for our fifth race of 2025.
Wind speeds of 17km/h will greet the U.S. SailGP Team on Day 1, coming from a west-northwest direction – and with gusts of up to 46 km/h.
That is in line to drop slightly on Day 2, when northwesterly winds of 15 km/h could be enhanced by 39 km/h gusts.
Those conditions should be similar to last week’s Rolex Los Angeles Sail Grand Prix, as Strategist Mike Buckley explained:
“It looks to be a lighter forecast than normal,” he said, when looking ahead to the crew’s second consecutive home race.
“Typically, San Francisco is a very windy, fast racetrack, but it looks like it'll be more of a medium wind – similar to what we had on Saturday in Los Angeles.”
