The U.S. SailGP Team officially kicked off New York race week with an unforgettable evening at The Ritz-Carlton, New York, NoMad, bringing together athletes, VIPs and friends of the team ahead of racing on New York Harbor.
Guests got an inside look at the energy building around one of the biggest weekends on the team calendar as the sport’s fastest racing league returns to the city.
Held on the hotel's open-air Madison Terrace with the Empire State Building glowing in the background, the evening drew a who's who of athletes, investors, entertainers, and tastemakers ahead of Saturday and Sunday's races on the Hudson River.
Among the night's attendees were New York Giants linebacker Khalid Kareem, recording artist SAINt JHN, Brooklyn Nets guard Ben Saraf, and Azzy Milan, who joined team co-owners Mike Buckley and Ryan McKillen along with nine-time world champion driver Taylor Canfield and Olympian Anna Weis – the first full-time female grinder in SailGP history.
The evening featured live music, signature CÃŽROC cocktails, and activations celebrating the team's ongoing partnership with Tommy Hilfiger, with the athletes arriving in lifestyle looks.
Speaking to the room, Mike reflected on what makes New York one of the most meaningful stops on the Rolex SailGP Championship calendar – a home crowd, an iconic skyline, and a growing community of fans rallying behind the team.
George Hammer, Global Head of Luxury Marketing at Marriott International, echoed that sentiment, noting the event's reflection of a broader shift toward experiences that unite sport, culture, and world-class hospitality.
The gathering highlighted the expanding cultural footprint of the U.S. SailGP Team, which counts Issa Rae, DJ Khaled, Lindsey Vonn, Gary Vaynerchuk, DeAndre Hopkins, and Kayvon Thibodeaux among among its star-studded collection of investors.
