U.S. SailGP Team driver Taylor Canfield has been shortlisted for the 2025 Rolex Yachtsman of the Year, honoring the most outstanding performances by American sailors in the last 12 months.
As well as his SailGP exploits with the U.S. SailGP Team, Taylor added two further World Championship titles to an already impressive resumé in 2025.
First, he won the J/70 World Championship with Dark Energy, before clinching the M32 World Championship with Ryan McKillen’s Surge prior to the Abu Dhabi Sail Grand Prix.
Taylor is joined by Justin Callahan, who has previously interned with the U.S. SailGP Team, and Paul Cayard on the shortlist, with the winner decided by a vote of past Rolex Award recipients and members of the sailing media.

U.S. SailGP Team flight controller Hans Henken was a 2024 Rolex Yachtsman of the Year Award winner after claiming a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics in the 49er class, and a gold medal at the 2023 Pan American Games.
The winners will be announced at New York Yacht Club’s Champions Dinner on February 12, 2026 in New York City, co-hosted by New York Yacht Club and US Sailing.
“Being named a Rolex Yachtsman or Yachtswoman of the Year is one of the most meaningful honors in American sailing,” said Charlie Enright, CEO of US Sailing and 2023 Rolex Yachtsman of the Year.
“This year’s finalists have delivered exceptional performances on the water and continue to set the standard for excellence, sportsmanship, and leadership. Their accomplishments inspire sailors at every level and reflect the strength of our sailing community.”
Congratulations, Taylor!
