‘Louisa is an extremely talented competitor and high-performance sailor’

U.S. SailGP Team duo Taylor Canfield and Andrew Campbell discuss our new newest recruit

The U.S. SailGP Team has strengthened its roster with the addition of Louisa Nordstrom, who officially joined the active roster ahead of the Canada Sail Grand Prix.
Nordstrom spent time with the team throughout the 2025 season as part of its development program before earning her place on the active roster. A Florida native and four-time All-American at Yale, she also raced alongside strategist Andrew Campbell during the 2024 America's Cup campaign in Barcelona.
Speaking following the Canada Sail Grand Prix, Andrew said: “I’ve raced with Louisa over the last few years and I've always been impressed by her work ethic and her professional attitude to what we're doing.
Campbell believes Nordstrom's versatility and approach make her a natural fit for the U.S. SailGP Team.

"Louisa is an extremely talented competitor and high-performance sailor," Campbell said. "She has the ability to step into different roles, solve problems, and adapt to whatever conditions or challenges we face. That's exactly what you need on a team like this.
"She understands how high-performance teams operate and communicates at a really high level. Bringing in someone with that experience and perspective is only going to make us stronger."
Although weather conditions in Halifax limited on-water training opportunities, Nordstrom immediately became part of the team's race weekend operation, contributing to debriefs and supporting the sailing team from the chase boat during light-air racing.
Driver Taylor Canfield said her impact was felt from the moment she arrived.
"Louisa's a great addition," Canfield said. "She's spent a lot of time racing fast foiling boats and she's already contributing in our debriefs. Unfortunately we didn't get as much time on the water as we would've liked in Halifax, but once she gets more hours in the boat she'll get up to speed quickly."

For Campbell, having Nordstrom involved throughout the weekend highlighted the value she brings beyond just sailing.
"She brought another set of eyes and another perspective," Campbell said. "Whether it's communication, preparation, or filling different roles within the team, she's already adding value. We're in a really strong position with the depth we've built."
That depth is something Canfield believes separates the U.S. SailGP Team from much of the fleet.
"It's great to have a team where people can step into multiple roles," he said. "We have one of the deepest rosters in the league, and that gives us confidence. If someone needs to step in, we know we've got talented people who are ready."
