One of only three teams to have been crowned SailGP Champions in the league’s history, Los Gallos are a force to be reckoned with.
Winners in Season 4, Diego Botín’s crew pushed to the final moments of the 2025 Season, just missing out on a place in the Grand Final in Abu Dhabi.

Diego Botín (Driver), Florian Trittel (Wing Trimmer), Joel Rodríguez (Flight Controller), Nicole van der Velden (Strategist), Joan Cardona (Tactician & Grinder), Bernardo Freitas (Grinder), María Cantero (Strategist).
Story of 2025:
Reigning Champions from Season 4, the 2025 Season looked to be going a similar way based on the first half of the season.
After six events, Los Gallos sat top of the Rolex SailGP Championship standings with 46 points, one clear of three-time winners the BONDS Flying Roos.
Consecutive wins on American waters in San Francisco and New York had sent out a warning to the rest of the fleet: Spain was intent on a repeat.

But the second half of the season proved tough. A P3 in Saint-Tropez was followed by a P5 at their home event in Andalucía-Cádiz, leaving the season finale in Abu Dhabi as do-or-die.
By the end of the season, just three points separated Australia, who finished 3rd to qualify for the Grand Final, and Los Gallos in 4th. Fine margins.
Off-Season Business:
Los Gallos revealed their hand in December, confirming they would be bringing back the same roster that performed so well in 2025.
