The SailGP fleet returns to Portsmouth this weekend (July 25-26) for the Emirates Great Britain Sail Grand Prix – but what weather will greet the fleet?

The Solent is a famously windy and unpredictable venue. So, will it live up to its reputation for the eighth event of the 2026 Rolex SailGP Championship?

It’s been an uncharacteristically warm summer in Great Britain but temperatures are gradually beginning to drop. On Saturday, the 13 teams should expect temperatures of around 75f by the time racing begins at 16:30 BST.

There’s a 25% chance of precipitation on Day 1, with cloud cover at 96% and humidity at 53%.

WHAT TIME IS THE GREAT BRITAIN SAIL GRAND PRIX FOR ME?

A 16mph west south-westerly wind should make for good foiling conditions with gusts reaching up to 26.7mph.

On Sunday, the weather looks set to brighten up slightly with the sun making an appearance. Temperatures will remain around 75f and humidity is expected to reach 63%.

However, there will also be less wind with just an 11mph westerly breeze forecast. Gusts of up to 21.7mph could help, however.
