2025 Season Data Dive: Key Facts And Figures

All the need-to-know narratives from behind the numbers of the 2025 Season
Published 12/18/2025
The 2025 SailGP Season was dramatic right to the end, with all three teams leading in the Grand Final in Abu Dhabi before Emirates GBR emerged victorious.
SailGP’s single-design class of F50s and spend cap ensure that athlete skill, strategy and tactics decide races. The reward was a pulsating season full of twists and turns across 12 events.
We know Emirates GBR won in the end but here’s the story of the season, told through the data...
1. A season of two halves
Emirates GBR’s win was built on the foundations of a brilliant second half of the season – with two of their three wins coming in the back half of the campaign to secure their Grand Final spot.
At the halfway stage - from Dubai through to New York - it was reigning Champions Los Gallos who sat atop the Rolex SailGP Championship. Diego Botín’s crew had 46 points after back-to-back wins in San Francisco and NYC.
But Dylan Fletcher and the Brits built on a strong showing on home waters in Portsmouth, clinching wins in Saint-Tropez and Cádiz to take control of the Championship Standings.
2. Germany building momentum into 2026
Few teams had a better back half of the season than the Germany SailGP Team presented by Deutsche Bank.
Erik Heil’s crew were a constant threat in just their second season in the fleet and only two teams finished with more points than their 35.

Victory in Geneva - the team’s first-ever event win - capped a sterling second half for Germany who never finished lower than 7th.
Their performances were recognized by fans at the recent End of Season Awards, scooping the gong for the Most Improved Team.
3. New speed record set in Sassnitz
With new high-speed T-foils introduced this season, there was some expectation the long-standing SailGP speed record would tumble at some point – and so it proved.
ROCKWOOL Denmark beat France’s record of 99.98 km/hr set during Season 3 in Sassnitz, by clocking 103.93 km/hr in Race 3. The U.S. SailGP Team and Emirates GBR both hit centuries as well.
ROCKWOOL Denmark topped 100 km/hr in Sassnitz  – a new record for SailGP
“It felt pretty fast!” said ROCKWOOL driver Nicolai Sehested. “Once you get over around 90km/hr, the boat is just shaking and you’re just trying to point it in the right direction!
“It’s very cool to break the record. There’s a bit of luck to it – it’s a combination of getting the right puff, just as you get into the power zone, but also how much risk you’re willing to take. We saw we were coming in hot pretty close to 100 and thought, well, let’s give it a shot. We pushed pretty hard today.”
With SailGP continually innovating, expect that record to be broken again sooner or later!
