Los Gallos capped an unforgettable summer for Spanish sport - following in the footsteps of La Roja’s World Cup win - by winning the Emirates Great Britain Sail Grand Prix to go back-to-back.
In a four-team Final, Diego BotÃn’s crew went from being P4 at Mark 1, to taking the victory in front of more than 10,000 fans on the banks of Portsmouth. Victory keeps Los Gallos P2 in the 2026 Rolex SailGP Championship standings.
Artemis SailGP Team finished second in another Final - the third time they’ve done that in their debut season - while the U.S. SailGP Team took P6 overall to strengthen their grip on P4 in the Championship.Â

Super Sunday began with a blanket start in Race A4 that saw Red Bull Italy forced to bail out after cutting it too fine. NorthStar were hit with an on-course side penalty, while the Black Foils were also penalized.
Having only managed a P3 on Day 1, the BONDS Flying Roos needed something to kickstart their weekend – and they managed just that. Leaders at Mark 1, the Aussies split the course with Los Gallos at Gate 2. Despite briefly losing the lead by Gate 4, Australia secured a big win and five points.
The entire fleet was late into the start box in Race B4 and it was Germany SailGP Team, presented by Deutsche Bank that took advantage with Erik Kosegarten-Heil driving into clean air to lead at M1.
2026 Emirates Great Britain Sail Grand Prix – Final Standings
Emirates GBR - also Day 1 strugglers - looked to have found their groove in P2. But it proved a false dawn and the U.S. SailGP Team snatched P4 from the Brits at Gate 4. However, Taylor Canfield and the Crew were unable to capitalize fully. Germany survived a late penalty scare to take the win, while Artemis as good as booked their Final ticket with P3.
In the penultimate fleet race of the day, ROCKWOOL Racing put on a clinic. Nicolai Sehested’s team had struggled to find their groove but did so spectacularly in Race A5. No one could wrestle control back from the Danes with an OCS penalty denying the Roos a realistic shot at the Final.
At Gate 5, NorthStar moved up from P5 to finish P3, booking their Final spot along with Sweden.
The U.S. SailGP Team and DS Automobiles France do battle at the 2026 Emirates Great Britain Sail Grand Prix in Portsmouth
The U.S. SailGP Team needed to finish above Explora Journeys Swiss in Race B5 but the Swiss made a flying start, crossing the start line level with DS Automobiles France. An error at M1 meant a disappointing end to the weekend for hosts Emirates GBR, who could not fight back from falling to P6.
Artemis climbed from P5 to P2 at one stage but nobody could catch the Swiss who booked their Final berth. A penalty on Germany Deutsche Bank at the death enabled the U.S. SailGP Team to climb into P4 – but they finished three points short of making the Final.
A high-speed start saw Nathan Outteridge and Sweden blast through the middle of the line as Switzerland tried and failed to roll over the top.
By Gate 4, Los Gallos’ progress resulted in them taking a lead they never looked like losing. Sweden and Switzerland took different paths in an attempt to close the gap. But it was not enough to haul in the Spanish who made it consecutive wins after triumph in Halifax last month.
SailGP returns with the ROCKWOOL Germany Sail Grand Prix in Sassnitz on August 22-23.
