Foiling Forecast: Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix

What does New York Harbor have in store for the fleet this weekend?
Published 05/27/2026
The U.S. SailGP Team returns to home waters this weekend for the Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix, with racing set for Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31 on the Hudson River.
Racing is scheduled to begin at 3:30pm ET on both days. To check the time in your region, click here.
With late-spring conditions expected across the harbor, the fleet will be racing against the iconic Manhattan skyline – though New York's position at the confluence of the Hudson River and Upper Bay means conditions can shift quickly across the course.
Saturday is expected to bring partly cloudy skies and temperatures of around 80°F, with a southwesterly breeze of 10–15 mph providing good foiling conditions for the fleet. Gusts of up to 20 mph are possible through the afternoon race window.
There is a 20% chance of an isolated shower during race hours, though conditions are largely expected to remain dry and fast.
Sunday's outlook is more dynamic. Temperatures will be similar, around 79°F, but a frontal system tracking up the Eastern Seaboard is expected to bring a strengthening easterly breeze of 25–30 mph, with gusts potentially reaching 35 mph and seas building to 3–5 feet in the harbor.
Be sure to follow all the action via the U.S. SailGP Team app and social media channels throughout the weekend.
