The sun was out in New York City on Friday – and so were the crowds at Pier 17 for the U.S. SailGP Team Fan Zone.
New Yorkers enjoyed athlete appearances as the whole Crew showed up at the Heineken Riverdeck to mingle, answer questions and sign autographs.
Grinder Anna Weis put on an eagerly contested grinding challenge that saw several members of her own family attempt to better the Olympian’s output in a minute on the handles.
U.S. SailGP Team Principal and CEO Mike Buckley joined Fan Capital CEO Aidan Lyons for a panel discussion about growing fandom, while Andrew Campbell talked about ocean conservancy as part of the Protect Where We Play initiative.
Driver Taylor Canfield was also in attendance, talking through starting strategy before posing for pictures and answering questions with a throng of sailing fans.
We’ll be back on Saturday and Sunday from 10am-6pm ET at Pier 17, Heineken Riverdeck, 89 South Street, New York.
