The U.S. SailGP Team confirms that Grinder Peter Kinney has re-signed for the 2026 SailGP Season.
Kinney first joined the U.S. SailGP Team ahead of Season 2 of SailGP and has been involved in SailGP events since 2020.
Speaking after committing for the 2026 campaign, Peter said: “I’m really looking forward to 2026. We are one of the few teams that have no turnover, and are excited to continue the progression we’ve been on throughout the second half of the season.
“The league is getting bigger, the teams are getting better, and a 13th boat on the course will continue to add to the parity and competitiveness that has made SailGP the pinnacle of the sport. We have the pieces to compete, we need to continue to stick together and chip away at making gains every chance we get.”
Balancing college football with sailing, Peter represented the United States at the 2013 Red Bull Youth America’s Cup. A veteran of the offshore racing scene in Southern California, Peter won a Melges 32 World Championship title in 2016, and regularly races on the GL52 and M32 circuits.
