U.S. SailGP Team Takes 3rd In Impact League Focus Area #2 For Accelerating Inclusion
Published 07/25/2025
The U.S. SailGP Team is proud to announce it secured a 3rd-place finish in the latest Impact League Focus Area: Accelerating Inclusion.
SailGP’s Impact League is a competition measuring which team makes the biggest difference in their communities off the water, with teams scored for their leadership and commitment to positive action in social and environmental sustainability.
The U.S. SailGP Team carries out these initiatives with its Purpose Partner, RISE, a national nonprofit that educates and empowers the sports community to eliminate racial discrimination, champion social justice and improve race relations.

The second Focus Area for 2025 was Accelerating Inclusion and this challenged each of the 12 teams to improve social inclusion and address barriers to participating in sailing.
Throughout the season, U.S. SailGP Team athletes and staff have participated in leadership workshops to upskill as leaders and activated at each race in the United States to the benefit of local communities.
On top of this, the U.S. SailGP Team provided dozens of underserved youth in San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York with bespoke, introductory sailing lessons with U.S. SailGP Team athletes, in addition to ongoing learning, development and upskilling through the team’s partnership with the RISE Foundation.

In New York, CEO, Co-owner and strategist Mike Buckley joined a session hosted by our Community Sailing Partner, Hudson River Community Sailing and Good Shepherd Services, enabling youth from underprivileged communities to learn about equality and equity through sailing.
Grinder Anna Weis and wing trimmer Jeremy Wilmot got out on the water with the Marching Beauties Organization at Long Beach Yacht Club in March, passing on their experience and helping inspire the next generation of budding female sailors.
In clinching third place - with Emirates Great Britain winning and NorthStar Canada taking second - the U.S. SailGP Team moves up to fifth overall in the Impact League Leaderboard, which can be viewed here.
This success also earns prize money which will enable RISE and the U.S. SailGP Team to continue their vital work helping underserved youth both on and off the water.
