The 2025 SailGP Season marked a period of adjustment for the U.S. SailGP Team. Following mid-season roster changes, the team showed improved execution and closed the year with measurable progress.
The additions of Andrew Campbell and Michael Menninger brought added experience to an all-American lineup, contributing to greater consistency in the latter half of the season and a clearer direction heading into 2026.

Story of 2025:
The first full season of ownership by the most diverse group in sailing, including Marc Lasry's Avenue Capital, Ryan and Margaret McKillen and Mike Buckley got off to the perfect start, recording a P3 in Dubai.
That proved a trend throughout the campaign as the U.S. SailGP Team thrived in light-air conditions, with match racing World Champion Taylor Canfield at the wheel.
An exhilarating start to the first-ever Germany Sail Grand Prix was halted by a collision with Emirates Great Britain that ended the Crew’s weekend. Thankfully, no one on either side was hurt and the Brits - with a piece of U.S. hull enabling them to race - reached the event final.
A P5 to round out the season in Abu Dhabi gave a tantalizing glimpse of what could be around the corner for an exciting young team going into just its second full season.
Off-Season Business:
Harry Melges IV is the latest addition to the U.S. SailGP Team
For the U.S. SailGP Team, the off-season was a chance to lock down its existing talent and return for 2026 with the same roster that finished 2025 impressively.
In fact, the team got its business done early as Harry Melges IV linked up with the Crew for the season finale in Abu Dhabi. Melges, who comes from a long line of sailors, arrives with a standout resume, including being named the 2021 US Rolex Yachtsman of the Year, winning the 2025 TP52 World Championship and the overall season title.
He is the grandson of Harry ‘Buddy’ Melges, a two-time Olympic medalist and one of the most celebrated competitive sailors in history.
