Taylor: More To Come After Sydney Win

U.S. SailGP Team driver Taylor Canfield speaks to the media in Rio
Published 04/10/2026
Fresh off the U.S. SailGP Team’s breakthrough event win in Sydney, driver Taylor Canfield believes the team is only just getting started.
While the result in Australia marked a major milestone, Canfield was quick to emphasize that the group sees even greater potential ahead - and that continued progression will be key in an increasingly competitive fleet.
“I think that there's still a lot to come. I think we've made a lot of great progress as a group, but overall we feel that we can grow a lot more. That's the biggest thing about this league right now is everyone is good. And the ones that are willing to push and continue to get better throughout the season are the ones that are going to end up on the podium in the end.”

Attention now turns to Brazil, where a varied forecast is set to test the fleet across a full range of conditions – something Canfield sees as an opportunity.
“We're going to have a mixed range of conditions; today maybe being the lightest wind for the practice racing and then kind of building throughout the weekend,” he said.
“So we're prepared for all conditions here in Brazil, which is exciting. And it'll really show the differences of the teams in different conditions. So we're excited about it.
“We're happy to go foiling and race in the lighter breeze. I think that's a strength of ours to be able to perform well in different conditions, as we've shown in Perth, in the season opener, and then in some lighter breeze in Sydney.”
