Canada Sail Grand Prix 2026: Schedule, Standings, How To Watch
Everything you need to know about the Canada Sail Grand Prix in one place
Published 06/19/2026
The second half of the 2026 SailGP Season begins in Halifax this weekend as the Canada Sail Grand Prix takes place in Nova Scotia with 13 boats expected on the start box.
Whether you’re tuning in or attending the event in person, we’ve got everything you need to know ahead of the final stop of the Americas leg of the season.
When is the Canada Sail Grand Prix?
The Mubadala Canada Sail Grand Prix will take place on Saturday, June 20 and Sunday, June 21.
It is expected there will be 13 boats in the start box in Canada once more, with New Zealand Black Foils returning to action.
SailGP Technologies worked hard to repair the Kiwis’ boat after their collision with DS Automobiles France in Auckland.
How does a SailGP Event work?
The entire fleet takes part in seven fleet races across Saturday (4) and Sunday (3). Points are awarded based on position with 10 going to each race winner, all the way to 1 point for 10th. Anyone placed 11th or lower gets zero points.
After seven races, the three teams with the most points contest a winner-takes-all Final.
Event points are then distributed based on the same criteria, with the event winner adding 10 to their seasonal tally, P2 taking 9 points, P3 taking 8 points and so on.
What happened at the New York Sail Grand Prix?
The BONDS Flying Roos strengthened their already vice-like grip on P1 in the 2026 Rolex SailGP Championship by making it a hat-trick of wins in New York – their first triumph on the Hudson.
Racing in the Big Apple was truncated, with high winds on Day 1 preventing the boats from being craned in safely. Only the Roos, Emirates GBR, Los Gallos and the U.S. SailGP Team made it onto the water, with exhibition racing taking place.
Super Sunday lived up to its billing, though. The U.S. SailGP Team was leading the event with a 2-1 start before a three-boat collision involving Red Bull Italy and Mubadala Brazil.
In the ensuing chaos, Australia, Emirates GBR and NorthStar made a thrilling Final which ended on two penalty appeals and another Aussie win.
Another 10-point haul for Tom Slingsby’s crew means Australia is now 11 points clear of reigning Champions Emirates GBR in P2. Remember, though, where you finish in the top three doesn’t matter – it only punches your ticket for the Grand Final.
The U.S. SailGP Team moved back into P3 thanks to a strong showing in New York, displacing Los Gallos who are two points back in P4.
